Thomas Rowe built a pink Mediterranean hotel on the sand for the woman he had been kept from marrying, and named it after an opera character. Fitzgerald drank there. The Army took it as a hospital in the war, the government gutted it into offices afterwards, and it was scheduled for demolition before a local campaign saved it in 1972.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
