Greyfield Inn, the Carnegie house where JFK Jr. got married in secret
1900
Cumberland Island, Georgia

Lucy Carnegie built this Colonial Revival house in 1900 for her daughter Margaret Ricketson, one of four homes she put up for her children on Cumberland Island. Margaret's daughter Lucy Ferguson opened it to paying guests in 1962 to keep the place standing, and it is still the only hotel on an island with no bridge and almost no paved road. That isolation is why John F. Kennedy Jr. Booked the whole inn for the weekend of 21 September 1996 and married Carolyn Bessette on the island in front of about forty people before the press knew it had happened.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
