The Commandant's Quarters, the last building of the Dearborn Arsenal
1834
Dearborn, Michigan
Andrew Jameson · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The federal government moved its Michigan arms depot out of Detroit in the 1830s and built an arsenal out on the road west, which is the reason a town grew here at all. This 1834 house for the arsenal's commanding officer is the oldest building in Dearborn still standing where it was put up. The rest of the complex is gone. The house is now part of the Dearborn Historical Museum, along with the 1839 powder magazine that a family later converted into a home.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
