The columns at the Forks of Cypress
1966
Lauderdale County, Alabama
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
A plantation house built in the 1820s and the only one in Alabama ringed on all four sides by columns. Lightning burned it to the ground in 1966 and the twenty-four brick columns were left standing in the field, holding up nothing, which is how most people have seen it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
