The Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the theatre named for Mary Rippon
1958
Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre, University of Colorado, Boulder

The festival has played every summer since 1958, which makes it one of the oldest in the country, and it works outdoors in a stone theatre named for Mary Rippon. Rippon started teaching languages at the University of Colorado in 1878 and was the first woman on the faculty of a state university in Colorado. She kept a husband and a daughter hidden for decades, because a married woman would have lost the job. The regents approved the theatre in her name after she died in 1935.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
