The circus winters in Sarasota
1927
Sarasota, Florida

Ringling moved the winter quarters here and a whole town reorganised around it, performers living locally, animals wintering in town, rigging built in the off season, and the public admitted to watch rehearsals. The high school still runs a student circus, the oldest in the country, and generations of Sarasota children have learned trapeze as an after-school activity.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
