The Castle, Westinghouse Air Brake's office block in Wilmerding
1890
Wilmerding, Pennsylvania
Westinghouse Air Brake built this office in 1890 at the head of its company town, and Wilmerding has always called it the Castle or Library Hall. It was listed by the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation in 1975 and on the National Register in 1987, and it held the George Westinghouse Museum from 2006 to 2016. A boutique hotel conversion collapsed during the pandemic, and in 2021 the building was turned over to an art academy and classrooms instead.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
