The Casa Marina, the first fireproof building on the beach

Hoteliers Gene Zapf and Francis Spinner opened the Casa Marina in 1925 at the top of the Florida land boom, to a Spanish Mediterranean design by the firm Marsh and Saxelbye. Its automatic sprinkler system made it the first modern fireproof building at the beach, in a resort town then built almost entirely of wood. The military took it for housing during the Second World War, it went into foreclosure in 1987, and it reopened restored in 1991.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
