A development company hired the planner John Nolen and the architects Marsh and Saxelbye and threw up a Mediterranean revival hotel on the riverbank in about six months, opening it on New Year's Day 1926. The Florida land boom collapsed under it and the hotel went bankrupt in 1928. A military academy leased the building, failed in the Depression, and in 1933 the Bolles School opened there, where it still is.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
