The Buffalo National River
1972
Newton County, Arkansas
OakleyOriginals · CC BY 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The first national river in the country, protected after a long fight against two proposed dams. It runs 135 miles undammed under limestone bluffs, and the Ozark country around it was some of the most isolated in America into the twentieth century.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
