The birthplace of Benjamin West, now the campus police station
1738
Swarthmore, Pennsylvania
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
Benjamin West was born in this stone house in 1738, went to London and became the most influential teacher American painting had, with Gilbert Stuart and Charles Willson Peale among the students who passed through his studio. Swarthmore College grew up around the house. It was made a National Historic Landmark in 1965 and now holds the college's campus police offices and a visitor desk.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
