Florida National University grew out of a Hialeah computer school
1988
Hialeah, Florida
The campus opened in 1982 as Computech Institute, a vocational school teaching office and computer trades. Jose Regueiro, Maria Regueiro and Omar Sanchez bought the Hialeah location in 1987 and held their first class in January 1988 under the name Florida International Institute, pitched at the Spanish speaking adults filling the city. It became Florida National College in 1989 and now grants degrees through the master's level.
