A live oak on a residential corner, some three and a half centuries old, with limbs spreading further than the tree is tall and propped on cables and posts. The city gave it a phone number so drivers could dial in and hear about it, and later a camera aimed at it so people could take a photograph of themselves standing under it from across the street.
