Oak Mountain and the Cahaba
1927
Shelby County, Alabama
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Alabama's largest state park sits on the last ridge of the Appalachians, and the Cahaba River below it holds more fish species per mile than any river of its size in North America. Its lilies bloom for a few weeks each May on shoals near Centreville.
