The Big Chicken survives KFC's plan to tear it down

A 56 foot steel rooster has stood over this fried chicken restaurant at Cobb Parkway and Roswell Road since 1963. A January 1993 storm ripped the sheeting off and inspectors found the frame corroded through, so KFC announced it would be demolished. Roughly ten thousand calls and letters changed the company's mind, and the bird was rebuilt instead. Locals still give directions by it and pilots out of Dobbins use it as a visual marker.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
