The Banning House, built by the man who dredged the harbour
1863
Wilmington, California
Los Angeles · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Phineas Banning built this Greek Revival house in 1863 beside the mudflats he was busy turning into a port, having laid out the town of Wilmington a few years earlier. His stagecoach and freight lines ran inland from the landing, and his lobbying is why the federal government dredged San Pedro Bay at all. The family kept the house until 1925 and Los Angeles has run it as a museum since 1927.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
