Betsy Head Pool, one of eleven giant pools New York opened in a single summer
1936
Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York
The pool opened on 6 August 1936, one of eleven enormous WPA swimming complexes that Robert Moses and Mayor La Guardia cut ribbons on across the five boroughs in the space of a few weeks. Brownsville got a bathhouse of brick and glass block and an outdoor pool among the largest in the city. The park around it carries the name of Betsy Head, whose bequest bought the ground.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
