Swamp Gravy at Colquitt
1992
Colquitt, Georgia
A town of two thousand losing its young people started collecting the stories its older residents told and staging them, cast entirely from people who live there, in a converted cotton warehouse. The state named it Georgia's official folk life play. It is named for a stew made from whatever is left after the fish are fried.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
