St. Colman's School and its carved sandstone saints in Turtle Creek
1928
Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania
The parish school started in 1888 and moved into this building when it went up in 1928, designed by the Pittsburgh firm Link, Weber and Bowers. Sandstone figures are carved into the exterior and a statue of St. Colman sits above the ornamented Hunter Street doorway. The original 1882 church next door burned in 1976. The last class graduated in 2006, eighteen students in all.
