A Victory class cargo ship launched in 1945 that went on to carry freight and refugees through the Korean and Vietnam wars. She is named for Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, founded in 1882 by Isaac Lane, born into slavery and later a bishop of the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church. Preserved in 1989, she is one of the few Victory ships left and a National Historic Landmark.
