Southlake was pasture with no town centre at all when Cooper and Stebbins bought 130 acres in the middle of it in 1996 and hired David Schwarz, architect of the Ballpark in Arlington, to lay out a street grid. Town Square opened in March 1999 with a town hall, a library, the area post office and four blocks of shops with offices above them. Developers across the country copied the format.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
