Cadillac's Clark Street plant builds its last car
1987
Clark Street, southwest Detroit, Michigan
General Motors opened the Clark Street plant in 1921 and assembled Cadillacs there for the next sixty six years, with bodies arriving by rail from the Fleetwood works about a mile away. In its final years the same line turned out Oldsmobile 88s, Chevrolet Caprices, police cars and taxis. The last Fleetwood Brougham came off it in December 1987 and full size Cadillac production moved to Arlington, Texas. The buildings were torn down in 1997 and a technology park sits on the ground now.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
