Sleeping Bear Dunes
1970
Leelanau County, Michigan
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Sand perched 450 feet above Lake Michigan on a glacial moraine, named for an Ojibwe story about a mother bear waiting for cubs who never reached shore. Climbing the dune is easy going down and brutal coming back.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
