Dallas educators spent the mid sixties designing a high school that would teach a trade alongside the regular curriculum and draw students from across the district rather than from a neighbourhood catchment. Classes started in autumn 1970 in borrowed buildings around southeast Dallas, and the main campus on Forney Road opened early in 1971. The career clusters were grouped into what the school still calls its Career Development Center. Every magnet school in the United States traces back to this building.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
