Andrew Porter built Selma in 1794 around a structure he had bought eight years earlier, on what was then the western edge of Norristown. Porter fought in the Revolution and was among the men who founded the Continental Marines, and he later served as Pennsylvania's Surveyor General and helped fix the state's boundaries. It is one of the oldest buildings standing in the borough, and a group of residents formed a preservation society and bought it back from a developer in the 1990s.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
