Seagoville, Texas
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The Bureau of Prisons built this place in 1941 as a minimum security reformatory for women. On 1 April 1942 it was handed to the Immigration and Naturalization Service and run as the Seagoville Enemy Alien Detention Station, holding people of Japanese, German and Italian descent, among them women and married couples seized in Latin America and shipped into United States custody. The population peaked at roughly 650. It reverted to the Bureau of Prisons in 1945 and has been a federal prison ever since.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
