Russell High merges with all-Black South Fulton High
1970
Russell High School, East Point, Georgia
Russell High opened in 1924 on land the industrialist John J. Eagan gave on the condition that it carry his uncle's name, a Confederate general. It stayed all white until 1970, when Fulton County consolidated it with the all-Black South Fulton High School. The combined school lasted until 1988, when the county merged it again into Tri-Cities.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
