Rochester made Fry glass and then became a film set

Henry Clay Fry started the H. C. Fry Glass Company here in 1901 at the junction of the Beaver and the Ohio, and its cut, oven and optical glass sold worldwide until the Depression finished it in 1933. The Pennsylvania Railroad ran a major junction through the same few blocks. Later the emptied-out streetscape drew film crews, and Rochester turns up in Gung Ho, Kingpin and Wonder Boys.
