Patapsco Valley, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Maryland's first state park began in 1906 as a strip of land along the Patapsco south and west of Baltimore. It now runs 32 miles of river across more than 14,000 acres, the largest state park in Maryland. The ruined mill sites at Orange Grove, Avalon and Daniels all sit inside its boundary.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
