Opa-locka Airport, the CIA field behind two Latin American operations
1954
Opa-locka, Florida
Curtiss opened an aviation camp on this ground in the 1920s and the Navy turned it into an air station. In 1953 and 1954 the CIA ran the operation that removed Guatemala's president Jacobo Arbenz out of Building 67, a two-storey barracks on the northeast corner of the field. Cuban exiles recruited into Brigade 2506 were flown out of Opa-locka to training camps in Guatemala before the Bay of Pigs landing in 1961.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
