One Court Square, the tower alone in Queens
1989
Long Island City, Queens

Citicorp built a 50 storey tower by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill across the river from Manhattan in 1989, moving back office work out of the financial district to cheaper floor space. For thirty years it was the tallest building in Queens, and for most of that time the only skyscraper in Long Island City, standing by itself above two storey warehouses. Skyline Tower passed it in 2019.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
