Olmsted's parks and Cherokee Park

Frederick Law Olmsted, at the end of the career that gave New York Central Park, designed Louisville a whole connected system, a ring of large parks joined by tree-lined parkways, one of only four such complete systems he ever made. Cherokee, the grandest, was flattened in the 1974 tornado and replanted tree by tree. The scenic loop road through it is the most used public space in the city.
