Cole Palen bought six derelict First World War aircraft at auction, put them on a grass strip, and spent forty years getting them airworthy. Original Sopwiths and Fokkers still fly here at weekends, which almost nowhere else attempts, most museums with aircraft this old will not risk them off the ground.
