Nine Mile station keeps the name of a Smoky Hill Trail stage stop

Stage traffic on the southern branch of the Smoky Hill Trail measured its way into Denver by mile houses, named Four, Seven, Nine, Twelve, Seventeen and Twenty for their distance from town. The Nine Mile House was a small log cabin near Cherry Creek offering food, drink and a bed, and the ground it stood on is now under the reservoir. The light rail terminus that opened here in 2006 carries the old stagecoach distance in its name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
