Chisholm Trail cattle drives
1867
Fort Worth, Texas
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Between 1867 and the mid-1880s some five million longhorns were driven north out of Texas to the Kansas railheads. Fort Worth was the last supply stop before Indian Territory, and built its stockyards on the traffic.
