McKim, Mead and White, the firm behind the original New York Penn Station, designed the building that opened in March 1935 with Art Deco detail over a classical frame. The Pennsylvania Railroad and the city split the $42 million bill for the station, the bridge and the realignment of the tracks. Amtrak, NJ Transit, PATH and the Newark Light Rail all stop here, a combination no other station in the country carries, and it is among the ten busiest in the United States.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
