Mount Washington, the worst weather on earth
1934
Mount Washington, New Hampshire

A 6,288-foot peak that behaves like an arctic outpost parked over New England: in April 1934 the summit observatory measured a 231 mile per hour gust, the fastest wind ever recorded by people who lived to file the paperwork. The observatory still staffs the summit year round, and the mountain has killed more hikers than any other in America. The summit sign says it plainly: home of the world's worst weather.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
