Millwood Apartments, a 1905 walkup that outlived Detroit's other early flats
1905
Milwaukee Junction, Detroit
This building opened in 1905 as the Ray Apartments, designed by Raseman and Fisher for Milwaukee Junction, the district where three main rail lines crossed and Detroit's first car factories clustered. An addition in 1923 came with a new name, most likely Milwaukee and Woodward run together. It was added to the National Register in 2023 as one of the last turn of the century apartment houses in the city still largely intact, and tenants live in it today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
