Miami Center works the second busiest slice of American airspace
1957
Miami-Dade County, Florida
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Set up in 1957 and now one of twenty-two en route control centres in the country, this building on NW 58th Street runs the lower half of Florida plus a large reach of the Gulf, the Atlantic and the Caribbean islands. Controllers here handled more than 2.6 million aircraft movements in 2024, second only to one other centre in the United States. Its boundaries touch the control areas of Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
