Maple Grove Cemetery, the reason Kew Gardens exists
1875

Maple Grove opened in 1875 on 65 acres of Queens farmland, and the Long Island Rail Road added a stop beside it so mourners could ride out from the city. The station came first and the neighbourhood grew around it afterwards, named Kew Gardens for the London botanic garden with street names to match. The cemetery was added to the National Register in 2004.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
