1969

This ground in Maywood was a board track auto speedway and then an air mail field, one of the runs Charles Lindbergh flew before Paris. The federal government deeded 62 acres beside the Hines veterans hospital to Loyola during the Kennedy administration, the Stritch School of Medicine moved out from the city in 1967 and the hospital opened in 1969. The old air mail and postal buildings on the campus were listed on the National Register in 2013.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
