Les Halles, the kitchen from Kitchen Confidential
1998
411 Park Avenue South, Manhattan, New York
Peabody Awards · CC BY 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
The brasserie where Anthony Bourdain was executive chef when he wrote the New Yorker piece that became Kitchen Confidential, and the kitchen most of that book is set in. He stayed on the masthead as chef-at-large long after he stopped cooking. The restaurant closed in 2017, a year before he died.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
