Lake Arlington floods the Village Creek ground

Village Creek was dammed in 1957 to make a water supply reservoir of about 1,939 acres for the growing cities on either side of it. The lake covers a good part of the bottomland where Caddo, Cherokee and other displaced families had villages until Texan militia burned them out in 1841. The battle site and the reservoir now share a footprint.
