Lacy Park and the lake San Marino drained
1925
San Marino, California

Mountain runoff collected here in a lake the Tongva used, and Benjamin Wilson bought it in 1854 and drew it down to water his vineyards. By the 1920s the four acre lake had shrunk to a mosquito ridden marsh that dried out in some seasons. San Marino bought the land in 1925, mayor Richard Lacy had the marsh drained, and the park carries his name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
