Kinloch High School, built because white neighbors would not share one
1936
Kinloch, Missouri
When the Kinloch district planned a high school in the 1930s, white residents in its northern half broke away rather than send their children to it, and the district was cut in two. The white school became Berkeley High School and the Black school opened here as Kinloch High. It was still running as a segregated school when the court ordered merger closed it in 1976.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
