Kenosha built cars for eighty years

Thomas Jeffery started mass-producing a car called the Rambler in Kenosha in 1902, when almost nobody was mass-producing cars at all. Charles Nash bought the works in 1916, the company merged with Hudson in 1954 to become American Motors, and AMC spent thirty years as the fourth car company: the one that made the Gremlin and the Pacer and could never quite get to scale. Chrysler bought it in 1987 and closed the assembly line the next year, after eighty-six years.
