I. M. Pei's white tower and glass pavilion stand on Columbia Point in Dorchester Bay because a decade of site fights ended the original plan to build beside Harvard. Jimmy Carter and the Kennedy family dedicated it in 1979, and along with the administration's papers it holds most of Ernest Hemingway's manuscripts, given by his widow after Kennedy's death. The president's sailboat Victura sits on the lawn half the year, pointed at the water.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
