The only presidential library split from its museum: the papers live on the north campus of the University of Michigan, where Ford had played center on two national championship teams, while the museum and his grave sit 130 miles west in his hometown of Grand Rapids. It is one institution with one director in two cities, an arrangement no other president has repeated. Both halves opened in 1981, months apart.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
