Ivory soap floats by mistake
1879
Ivorydale, Ohio
A candlemaker and a soapmaker who married sisters built Procter & Gamble on the fat left over from the pork trade. A workman let a mixer run through lunch, whipped air into a batch, and the accident became the soap that floats. P&G later sponsored radio dramas to sell it, which is why they are called soap operas.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
