Hurricane Andrew snapped the WCIX tower and its replacement set a record
1992
Redland, Florida
Miami's channel 6 put its transmitter out in the farm country north of Homestead rather than up the coast with the other stations. Hurricane Andrew came across it on 24 August 1992 and brought it down. The tower that replaced it stands 1,768 feet and was the heaviest guy-supported broadcast tower in the world when it went up. Four FM stations transmit from it now.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
